In 2005 when we first tried standup paddling at Cabrillo and the Palos Verdes coastline, there wasn’t much to choose from in the SUP industry. The first board we paddled was a Mickey Munoz surfboard that was 12' long and 26" wide. It was unstable, heavy and had no carrying handle.
Today there are countless manufacturers in the business. Big names from the windsurfing industry like Naish and RRD, surfboard shapers and designers from Surftech and a host of newbies at the low end producing foam slab boards made in China.
The market quickly became saturated as everyone was anxious to jump into the next big thing. Let us help you wade through the clutter and find the right equipment for your needs so you can start enjoying the SUP experience too. |
